Madeleine Jeanne Lemaire (French, 1845-1928) – A young lady reclining on a chaise longue (Watercolour on paper) – Lemaire was referred to in the 1897 edition of Lucile as “the most gracious and fascinating of women and a most brilliant star in the artistic world of Paris.” She was a pupil of Jeanne Mathilde and Jules Chaplin and made her debut in the Paris Salon in 1864.
